Communication
Every month, we send out emails to all musicians and parents to keep them up-to-date on SYO activities. It’s crucial to read these emails, as they're our primary means of communication.

Attendance Policy
- All members are expected to attend every scheduled orchestra rehearsal, sectional, and performance.
- If you know you'll be missing a rehearsal or performance, or if you're suddenly ill, please let the orchestra director know ahead of time. Also, notify them if you'll be arriving late or leaving early.
- You can find the full 2025-26 season schedule on the youth orchestras calendar page of the SYO website.
- We'll communicate any last-minute changes, updates, or cancellations by email.
- If you miss many rehearsals, we might need to reassign your parts, change your seating in the section, withhold volunteer hours, or suggest that you not participate in the final concert.

Rehearsals: What to Bring
Please make sure to bring the following items to every rehearsal:
- Your instrument and any necessary accessories
- A music stand
- Sheet music and a black 3 ring binder
- A pencil and highlighter
Arrive at least 10 minutes before the rehearsal begins to allow time for unpacking and warming up. Each SYO member is responsible for their own instrument at all times, both before, during, and after rehearsals and concerts. When not in use, please place your instrument in a secure location to prevent it from being bumped, knocked over, or stepped on. The SYO is not liable for any damage to musical instruments.
