Who we are

youth orchestra performing music on stage of concert hall with conductor

The Toronto Sohrae Youth Orchestra is the largest non-profit organization in Toronto of its kind, primarily composed of Korean-Canadian students and welcoming of students of all cultural backgrounds. Our mission is to foster cultural appreciation among youth and share our musical talents with the community in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Founded in 2003, Toronto Sohrae Youth Orchestra initially began as an ensemble for Sohrae Presbyterian Church during Sunday worship services. In 2004, it became an independent non-profit organization after receiving governmental approval.

We welcome all students who are passionate about music to audition for Toronto Sohrae Youth Orchestra, regardless of their religious beliefs.

Members of Toronto Sohrae Youth Orchestra attend weekly rehearsals, perform in various community events, and perform in reputable concert halls across the city including the Glenn Gould Studio and George Weston Recital Hall. You can see pictures of our rehearsals and performances on our Gallery Page. All proceeds from our concerts are donated to various charitable organizations in Toronto, such as the Toronto City Mission.
